The Caring Teen program is only for students between ages 15 to 18 and who are currently in high school. 
If you graduated high school in May/June last year, please submit an application for the adult volunteer program here.

Note: Please use "Google Chrome" to complete the application. Do NOT complete the application from a mobile phone. You may access the application components via this Volunteer Portal at any time. However, as soon as you submit a form, you will not be able to return to it. In order to ensure that you have ample time to complete all materials, you are encouraged to submit this form as soon as possible.  

Thank you for your interest in the Caring Teen volunteer program at Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Houston Methodist volunteers play a key role in the healing of patients and assisting their families. The necessity for teen volunteers to conduct themselves with a high level of maturity and sensitivity in a hospital environment is vital. Due to the onboarding costs incurred by the hospital for each teen applicant, we have an extensive application and selection process. Our program is extremely competitive. An application does not guarantee placement in the program. Incomplete applications will not be accepted nor considered. Please read all instructions and requirements before submission. This application is strictly for use at Houston Methodist Hospital - Texas Medical Center and will not be accepted at any other Houston Methodist location.

Communication policy: You must provide the email address of the teen applicant only. All communication is done via email. It is important that all communication is handled by the teen directly, so we have the opportunity to assess the teen's readiness for a volunteer position at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Only complete applications will be considered. Applicants will receive an email confirmation once all items on the checklist are submitted.

Requirements

1. Requirements for new and returning applicants:

A) Must be between 15 and 18 years of age on June 9, 2025 and available to volunteer the entire duration of the program. Volunteers who are 15 years of age are subject to shift restrictions outlined in Policy and Procedure VS25, which can be found on the Caring Teen volunteer website.

B) Complete the Caring Teen application - all items on the checklist below must be completed:

• Forms A2 - R (All application forms can be accessed after submitting this page and beginning the application. See below for details.)
• Most recent transcript
• Government issued photo ID/school photo ID 
   

C) Successfully complete the onboarding process (provided by Houston Methodist Hospital upon conditional acceptance):

• Background Check
• Heath Screen - drug test & TB test                     
• Orientation & Training
• Safety Exam
